Buyers who already know Keitt and Kent often ask us what to load when they want color on the shelf and a fruit that eats well straight out of the box. For many programs the answer is Naomi. It is one of the most recognizable Egyptian export mangoes, prized for its red and orange blush, low fiber and reliable behavior in transit. This note sets out the Naomi specification Nile Prime offers for the 2026 season.
Ripening profile and eating quality
Naomi is an oval to heart-shaped mango with a firm, almost fiberless flesh and a sweet, aromatic profile. Picked at mature green with the first blush showing, it ripens evenly to a deep yellow-orange over five to eight days at ambient room temperature. That predictable curve makes it a strong choice for retail and wholesale buyers who need fruit to arrive firm and ripen on a schedule they control. Handled well, Naomi holds condition on the shelf longer than softer early varieties.
Sizes and counts
We grade Naomi by count per 4 kg carton, the standard export unit. Typical counts run from 6 to 12 fruit per carton, covering large calibers around 550 to 650 grams down to medium fruit near 330 to 400 grams. Gulf accounts tend to pull the larger 6 to 8 count for gifting and premium retail, while European programs often prefer the 9 to 12 count for consumer packs. Tell us your count band early, because the season peaks quickly and large sizes clear first.
Carton formats and pallet configuration
The core pack is the single-layer 4 kg telescopic carton with each fruit in a foam sleeve to guard against pressure marks. We also prepare 6 kg cartons and retail-ready formats on request. A 40-foot reefer carries roughly 20 pallets, with cartons stacked to a stable, ventilated count that protects the fruit through transit. Every carton is labeled with variety, count, class and lot code, and we print to private label where required.
Season, ports and Incoterms
Naomi typically ships from late July through September, extending the Nile Prime mango window that opens with earlier varieties. We load at Alexandria, Damietta and Sokhna, with reefers pre-cooled and set to the correct pulp temperature before stuffing. Fruit is offered on FOB, CFR or CIF terms under Incoterms 2020, and our approach to reefer settings and transit is set out in our guide to shipping Egyptian mango by sea. Buyers comparing varieties can read our Egyptian Kent mango specification to plan a mixed-variety program.
