Buyers who already know Keitt and Kent often ask us what to load when they want color on the shelf and a fruit that eats well straight out of the box. For many programs the answer is Naomi. It is one of the most recognizable Egyptian export mangoes, prized for its red and orange blush, absence of fiber and reliable behavior in transit. This note sets out the Naomi specification Nile Prime offers for the 2026 season.
Ripening profile and eating quality
Naomi is an oval to heart-shaped mango with a firm, fiberless flesh and a sweet, aromatic profile, with Brix running 13 to 15 degrees at eating-ripe. Picked at mature green with the first blush showing, it ripens evenly to a deep yellow-orange over five to eight days at ambient room temperature. That predictable curve makes it a strong choice for retail and wholesale buyers who need fruit to arrive firm and ripen on a schedule they control. Handled well, Naomi holds condition on the shelf longer than softer early varieties.
Sizes and counts
We grade Naomi by count per 5 kg carton, the standard export unit. Naomi fruit runs 400 to 600 grams, which fills counts 8, 9, 10 and 12: count 8 is 590 to 670 grams, count 9 is 530 to 590 grams, count 10 is 460 to 530 grams, and count 12 is 385 to 460 grams. Gulf accounts pull the larger counts 8 and 9 for gifting and premium retail, while European programs prefer counts 10 and 12 for consumer packs and punnets. Counts 11, 18 and 20 are not packed. Tell us your count band early, because the season peaks quickly and large sizes clear first.
Naomi does not produce count 6 or count 7 fruit in commercial quantity. A buyer who needs fruit above 670 grams should specify Keitt or Fagri Kelan instead.
Carton formats and pallet configuration
The core pack is the single-layer 5 kg telescopic carton with each fruit in a foam sleeve to guard against pressure marks. A 5 kg box is available at the same net weight and a lower packaging cost, and a 4.5 kg carton is offered on request. Retail-ready formats are prepared to buyer specification.
A standard pallet builds to 200 cartons in the 5 kg format, or 180 in the 5 kg box. A 40-foot reefer takes 20 standard pallets plus one euro pallet, 21 in total, giving 4,160 cartons and 20,800 kg net in the carton, or 3,744 cartons and 18,720 kg in the box. Maximum payload is 25 tonnes. Every carton is labeled with variety, count, class and lot code, and we print to private label where required.
Season, ports and Incoterms
Naomi ships from late July through September, and the peak weeks are July and August — the peak is narrower than the full export window. We load at Alexandria, Damietta and Sokhna, with reefers pre-cooled and set to the correct pulp temperature before stuffing. Fruit is offered on FOB, CFR or CIF terms under Incoterms 2020, and our approach to reefer settings and transit is set out in our guide to shipping Egyptian mango by sea. Buyers comparing varieties can read our Egyptian Kent mango specification to plan a mixed-variety program.
