Keitt is the variety that carries the back half of the Egyptian mango season, and for importers buying on program it is the most predictable fruit in the calendar. It ships well, holds its firmness through a managed cold chain, and arrives with the low-fiber, clean flesh that retail and wholesale buyers ask for. Fruit profile
Keitt is a large, oval, green-skinned mango that keeps a green blush even when ripe, which surprises first-time buyers expecting a yellow or red finish. The flesh is deep yellow, firm, and virtually fiberless, with Brix running 13 to 15 degrees when the fruit is picked at the right maturity. Because the skin stays green, eating quality is judged by internal maturity rather than color, and our packhouse selects on that basis.
Sizes and counts
Export Keitt is graded by piece count per carton, and the carton is the 5 kg net format. Keitt fruit runs 500 to 900 grams, which fills counts 6 through 10. Count 6 is the largest fruit at roughly 775 to 900 grams each, count 7 at 670 to 775 grams, count 8 at 590 to 670 grams, count 9 at 530 to 590 grams, and count 10 at 460 to 530 grams. Gulf wholesale buyers concentrate on counts 7 to 9, where large fruit carries a visible premium; European retail takes count 10 for its shelf unit price. Counts 11, 18 and 20 are not packed. A count is only a specification when the carton format is stated with it. The same fruit that is a count 7 in a 5 kg carton is a count 6 in a 4.5 kg carton, so any offer you compare should be converted to grams first.
Packing and pallet configuration
Standard packing is a 5 kg telescopic carton, single layer, with each fruit foam-netted to prevent bruising. A 5 kg box is available at the same net weight and a lower packaging cost, and a 4.5 kg carton is offered on request to buyers running an existing specification.
A standard pallet builds to 200 cartons in the 5 kg format, or 180 in the 5 kg box. A 40-foot high-cube reefer takes 20 standard pallets plus one euro pallet, 21 in total, so a full load is 4,160 cartons and 20,800 kg net in the 5 kg carton, or 3,744 cartons and 18,720 kg in the 5 kg box. A 20-foot reefer takes 10 standard pallets: 2,000 cartons and 10,000 kg net. Maximum payload on either unit is 25 tonnes. Exact counts are confirmed per booking.
Season and peak
Keitt is available from August into December, and the peak weeks run September to November. The peak is narrower than the full export window, and the largest counts are easiest to secure in the middle and back end of it rather than at the opening, because average fruit weight rises as harvest moves through the block.

Nile Prime loads from Alexandria, Damietta, and Sokhna depending on the destination and the most efficient sailing.
